The Franz Stettner & Sohn firm is one of the largest distilleries in Bavaria. Everything began with a bottle of lemon liqueur on 12 July 1949. Since then, the firm has passed into the hands of its third generation, with premises of over 40,000 m², its own transport fleet of 23 trucks, a warehouse with a capacity of over three million litres, and six fully automated filling lines. In our selection, you will find the most diverse fruit brandies and liqueurs, distinguished wines, as well as sparkling wines, Champagnes, Federweisser, mulled wines, and fruit and honey wines. Our self-produced, alcohol-free range includes fruit juices, spritzers, refreshment drinks and mixers, energy drinks, iced tea, mineral and table waters, and syrups.
Everything began with a bottle of lemon liqueur well over half a century ago.
On 12 July 1949, Franz Stettner, a 21-year-old student, received a permit from the chief customs office to produce distilled beverages and liqueurs. The publican’s son, known in his hometown of Kolbermoor as an athlete and a talented skier, then turned his desire for adventure to a quite different pursuit, under somewhat difficult conditions. One year after currency reforms and with the most limited of means, Franz Stettner decided to take part in the still tentative and budding business life of a Bavaria still under US occupation. Scarcely one year later, Stettner was able to expand his range by trading wines and alcohol-free beverages. Today, at the end of Stettnerstrasse, there stands an exemplary winery and distillery.
The Stettner family business – now in the 3rd generation
In 1982, Franz Stettner Jr. completed his studies in Geisenheim as a qualified viticulture and drinks technology engineer and became a partner in the firm. Father and son were now both working hard – happily and in total unison – for the company's success. With particular pride, Franz Stettner Sr. opened up the path for his grandson, Franz the third, who has been participating in the activities of the company with the greatest of enthusiasm since September 2011 and is thus carrying on the family business, which is now in its third generation, alongside his father.
40,000 square metres of company premises with over 2.5 million litres of warehouse capacity
